My Study of Great Master Works at 'The Art Institute of Chicago' - The bathers by William Adolphe Bouguereau
Dated 09-03-2002.

With Pencil on Paper.
Original Size 8" x 11".

Original:
William Adolphe Bouguereau, French 1825-1905
The Bathers, 1884; Oil on Canvas

The original Painting. The bathers by William Adolphe BouguereauOne of the great paintings at The Art Institute of Chicago found in the European 1800s Gallery. This painting stops every visitor at least for a momemnt in front of it. The original one is a life size painting of two bathers. The painting was done at such a great detail, one can just take a small part of it and study for a considerable amount of time. Amazing finishing with a smooth color mix.

I tried to study just the face of one of the bathers (the one sitting) in the painting.

It took me about half an hour to do this and gave me a chance to take a closer look at a great master piece.

Dated Feb-28-2004.

With Pencil on Paper.
Original Size 8" x 11".

Original:
John S. Sargent
Lady Agnew of Lochnaw, 1892; Oil on Canvas

The original Painting. Lady Agnew of Lochnaw by John S. SargentOne of the great paintings at The Art Institute of Chicago. One of the very best of 1800s in my opinion. The original one is a life size painting.

I tried to study the whole painting.

It took me about half an hour to do this rough sketch and gave me a chance to take a closer look at a great master piece.

"When a work lifts your spirits and inspires bold and noble thoughts in you, do not look for any other standard to judge by: the work is good, the product of a master craftsman." - La Bruyere
